Delhi Red Fort Blast: Police Confirm 3 Injured, Security on High Alert
What happened
According to early reports, the explosion took place around 3:15 PM near one of the Red Fort’s outer parking areas. The sound of the blast was heard several blocks away, leading to panic among visitors and commuters.
Police teams, along with the National Security Guard (NSG) and bomb disposal squads, reached the site immediately. Initial findings suggest that an improvised explosive device (IED) was used.

Delhi Police Commissioner Sanjay Arora confirmed three injuries and stated that the victims are being treated at Lok Nayak Hospital. He urged citizens to stay calm and avoid sharing unverified information online.
“We have sealed the area and forensic experts are collecting samples. Preliminary evidence indicates a low-intensity homemade device,” said Arora.

The Delhi Crime Branch and Intelligence Bureau have joined the investigation. CCTV footage from the surrounding area is being analyzed to trace any suspicious movement. The police are also questioning shopkeepers and residents nearby.

Following the blast, security was heightened in central Delhi and near other historic landmarks such as India Gate and Parliament House. Traffic was diverted in several parts of Old Delhi to ensure smooth emergency operations.
